Sitka & Spruce in Seattle
Our first-ever Seattle event series is officially a wrap, and wow, what a whirlwind it was! Nearly 200 members (+ their guests) turned out to Sitka & Spruce over the course of two days and four seatings for this collaboration, and the excitement among our new Seattleite members was truly palpable. Upon our arrival at the restaurant for Day 1 of the event series, Executive Chef Danny Conkling informed us that the owner had just recently decided that they weren't going to renew the restaurant's lease in the new year, and that December 31st would be their last night in operation (after 13 years of delivering some of Seattle's best cuisine!). So, it's safe to say that this collaboration took on an extra special meaning for Chef Conkling. With respect to the food, not every course received glowing ratings from attendees. But, there were certainly a few courses that most people thoroughly enjoyed, and the overall attendee feedback was SUPER positive. Below are the top three courses, as rated by attendees on their feedback cards:
1st Place: Eton Mess - with meringue, whipped cream, pastry cream, and huckleberries
2nd Place: Smoked Chicken Roulade - with spot prawn bisque, celery root, and wild mushrooms
3rd Place: Assortment of Vegetables - grilled local vegetables, tonatto | roasted golden beets, chow chow, peaches, watercress
