Abejas
Day 1: 5-Course Avant-American Tasting Series
Opened way back in 2015, this exceptional eatery in downtown Golden has maintained its high standards, appearing on Westword’s 2024 List of “Top 100 Restaurants.” Abejas is a community-focused restaurant dedicated to seasonality and making the best use of fresh local produce, organic meats, and sustainable fish. Here, Executive Chef Tommy Kummer, a graduate of Minneapolis’ Le Cordon Bleu who has been with the restaurant since it opened, is pleasing diners with dishes like tuscan mussels and shrimp, black cod with root vegetable gratin, squash risotto with wild mushrooms and brussels sprouts, and bison short rib with mushroom ragout, all served up in a charming rustic interior. “Enjoy the history and atmosphere of downtown Golden, which is always a treat, and a drink and a meal that are, too,” says Thrillist, while Zagat says, "The name (Spanish for 'bees') captures the buzzy vibe at this New American destination.” So, let’s buzz over to sample Chef Kummer’s fare and hear about his food ideas. Hope to see you there!
