Insa’s executive chef and co-owner Sohui Kim, a Seoul native, came to the U.S. at the age of 10. Upon graduating from Barnard College, she set out to find life’s meaning and discovered that cooking was her destiny. After graduating from the Peter Kump School of Cooking, she honed her craft under fabled chefs Dan Barber at Blue Hill, and Anita Lo at Annisa. Then, in 2005, she opened The Good Fork, her highly regarded Red Hook eatery, which Frank Bruni in The New York Times called, “one of those restaurants that inspire passionate devotion in its fans.” At Insa, her new red-hued retro lounge located near the Gowanus Canal, Chef Kim explores her roots with a Korean menu that has garnered praise from the NY Times as a 2-Star Critics Pick and from Eater as “wildly delicious.”
