About

Three years old now, this delightful eatery from Chef/Owner Jarrett Stieber has become a Summerhill fixture—and a fixture on such "Best Of" Lists as Atlanta Magazine’s “Best New Restaurants of 2020 and 2021” and Eater’s “38 Essential ATL Restaurants of 2023.” Chef Steiber, who was born in Pittsburgh but moved to Atlanta at the age of three, graduated summa cum laude from Le Cordon Bleu and then went on to start the wildly popular pop-up, Eat Me Speak Me. At Little Bear (named for the restaurant’s mascot, a Pyrenees Mountain Dog) Chef Steiber stands behind the counter in the open kitchen, chatting with diners and turning out such colorful and inventive dishes as La Zi Ji Chicken, with strawberry sauce, turnip, cilantro, and za’atar, and Chill’d Wild Catfish with cocoa butter chili crisp, kraut yogurt, and everything bagel powder. His culinary bravado has earned him such honors as a Zagat National 30 Under 30 Award, a StarChefs Atlanta 2023 nod, and a James Beard Semi-Finalist title for "Best Chef: Southeast". The Atlanta Journal-Constitution describes Little Bear as “impossible to define [but] easy to love,” so naturally we’re primed to visit.
