About

Opened just this past December, this Uptown eatery in the Irish Channel has jumped right onto a number of 2023 “Best Of” lists, including Eater’s “Hottest in NOLA” and Resy’s “Top New NOLA Restaurants.” Chef/Owner Shirley Lee and her husband Tang, natives of Hong Kong who met as immigrants in New York City, ran the ultra-popular Royal China in Metairie for 44 years. Then along came the pandemic, which was such a strain that they decided to sell their restaurant and spent the next seven months traveling and visiting their grandkids and other family members in Singapore. But retirement did not agree with Chef Lee. She soon opened up this new restaurant, intent on creating a neighborhood hub for dim sum, beloved Chinese-American staples, and lesser-known Cantonese specialties. Imagine salt-and-pepper wings with sliced ginger and jalapeños, crabmeat udon noodles, curried Singapore noodles with shrimp, pork, chicken, and vegetables, and so much more. In other words, this is food that manages to be comforting and exciting at the same time.
