About

Opened in 2022, this trendy SoMa eatery that celebrates Turkish cuisine was named one of Thrillist’s “Best SF Restaurants” and appeared on Eater’s “Hottest in SF” List and Infatuation’s “Best SoMa Restaurants” List. The restaurant is named after a district in Istanbul that’s full of 19th century architecture and international chain stores — a mix of traditional and contemporary that Taksim reflects in its menu. Head Chef Birkan Dogan, who was part of the team that gave us the popular Mediterranean eatery Lokma, is offering up exciting fare like panisse (chickpea fries), manti (lamb and beef dumplings), branzino with anchovy rice pilaf and glazed turnips, blackened cauliflower with tahini, garlic chips, mustard, and chives, and fabulous desserts like homemade vanilla ice cream with baklava crumble, honey pearls, and pistachio puree and Turkish doughnuts with five-spice chocolate sauce, mascarpone Chantilly, and Medjool date chocolate sand. “This is the most elevated Turkish restaurant in the city, so prepare to be wowed,” raves Infatuation.
