We love a good wine bar, and Uvae, which opened in Andersonville in June 2019 and has survived handily, is a very, very delightful wine bar. The knowledgeable staff can steer you toward an ideal pairing for anything on Executive Chef/Owner Lindsey Anderson-Perez’ highly comforting menu, which features dishes like buttery short rib wellington, creamy wild mushroom maltagliati, and spiced carrots on top of a chickpea-sauerkraut puree. Chef Anderson-Perez began her journey in the hospitality industry at the age of 16 as a cake decorator and then a restaurant server. An accomplished sommelier, she has been a partner and investor with a number of different restaurant concepts in Chicago. With Uvae, she has found a truly winning formula, so much so that Chicago Eater named it to its list of the best restaurants in Andersonville, stating that “this charming corner wine bar has become a neighborhood destination.”
