8282
Day 2: 5-Course Inventive Korean Tasting Series
Opened in 2022, this modern Korean eatery immediately jumped onto Thrillist’s “Best Spots on the Lower East Side” List and, two years later, was named to Infatuation’s List of “Best Lower East Side Restaurants.” And as if that wasn’t enough, 8282, named for Korea’s country code +82, was also the proud recipient of a 2023 Michelin Bib Gourmand. Executive Chef/Co-Owner Bong Le Jo previously ran Pado in the East Village and, before that, cooked in the kitchens of Michelin-starred Perry St (a Jean-Georges restaurant), Michelin-starred Dovetail, and Michelin Plate Award-winning Kissaki. Here, he is offering a light-hearted, fresh take on Korean cuisine, with inventive dishes iike menbosha (fried shrimp toast with white bread), golden beets & kimchi salad with house-made burrata, pistachio, yuzu vinaigrette, and green tea powder, perilla oil pasta with crab meat and seaweed, and dakgalbi kimchi-bap (gochujang-marinated chicken over cheesy kimchi rice). “An intriguing new restaurant,” says Time Out. “Everything at 8282 makes sense.” ‘Nuff said. See you there!
