Addis Nola
5-Course Revisiting Ethiopian Roots Tasting Event
Initially opened in 2019 and newly situated in its second location, a warm, bright space on Bayou Road, this Ethiopian restaurant has proudly claimed a place on Eater's 2022 list of "38 Essential Restaurants in New Orleans." Chef/Owner Prince Lobo is carrying on the legacy of the restaurant's founder, his mother, Dr. Biruk Alemayehu, a professor at Southern University at New Orleans, who wanted to give the Crescent City an awareness of her home country with a menu to remember. Here, diners find stews and stir-fries, sambusas (lentil, collard greens, or beef hand pies) and kitfo (a minced beef dish), and specials like whole fried red snapper and doro wat, a chicken stew slowly simmered with caramelized onions. The freshness and palate-pleasing flavors of the food explain why Eater calls Addis Nola "a cherished addition to New Orleans dining." We are excited to visit here and to learn more from Prince Lobo about the great culinary traditions of his ancestral land.
