Avize
Day 1: 5-Course Homage to the Alps Tasting Series
Opened this past October, this modern Alpine eatery in West Midtown shot right onto such lists as Eater’s “Hottest in Atlanta,” Resy’s “Top Restaurants in Atlanta Right Now,” and Infatuation’s “Hit List.” Avize is a tribute to the Bavarian heritage of Chef/Owner Karl Gorline, whose résumé includes stints at the famed Watershed Restaurant and Michelin-Starred Atlas at The St. Regis Hotel. Here, he has devised a menu highlighting locally sourced ingredients, including produce from the restaurant’s farm. Diners delight in dishes like venison tartare with buckwheat, blueberry, and walnut ‘ketchup,’ botanical hay smoked duck with chicory, rutabaga, burnt chocolate and cherry jus, pommes rösti with smoked trout roe and elderflower cream, flammkuchen with crème fraiche, onions, and house bacon, and luscious desserts like juniper and pine-tip ice cream and black sesame tiramisu. “Chef Karl Gorline reaches new heights with a refined menu,” raves Atlanta Magazine, so, naturally, we are pumped to visit. See you there! (P.S., wait till you see the giant taxidermed mountain goat!)
