Carrello

5-Course Old World Inspired Tasting Event

Opened in 2019, this Capitol Hill eatery made SeattleMet’s 2022 List of “Best Italian in Seattle” and its chef/owner, Nathan Lockwood, has been nominated multiple times as a James Beard "Best Chef: NW" Semi-Finalist. After Chef Lockwood, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, earned a Michelin star for San Francisco’s Acquerello (where he served as chef de cuisine) he and his wife Rebecca opened Altura, which received a James Beard nomination for "Best New Restaurant." Carrello is Altura’s lively younger sibling, just across the street. Here, plates are heartier, more rustic, and bursting with the flavors of spicy Calabrian chilis, anchovies, and fresh herbs from the Lockwoods’ garden. Carrello takes pride in producing nearly everything in-house from handmade burrata, salumi, and focaccia to vinegar, Amari, Nocino, and more. And there is plenty of love for pasta, with such offerings as pappardelle with ragu of oxtail and tripe and anchovy crumbs and cavatelli with duck sausage, caramelized fennel, and broccoli rabe. We are so looking forward to our visit here and to having Chef Lockwood share the splendors of Mediterranean cuisine with us!
