Logan Circle

Compass Rose

Day 1: 5-Course Globally Inspired Tasting Series

Opened way back in 2014 (a lifetime when it comes to today’s volatile restaurant scene), this unique Logan Circle eatery has appeared on Washingtonian’s List of “100 Best in DC” and has always been about celebrating the cuisines of the world. With a menu traveling from Lebanon, to Peru, to Jamaica, to Denmark, Chef/Owner Rose Previte takes diners on a culinary expedition you have to eat to believe, and hosting Culinary Director Eritrea Solomon follows suit brilliantly, bringing in elements of the cuisine of her country, the African nation of Eritrea. Maybe you'll try Yemen’s fried Brussels sprout with labneh, or India’s cauliflower bezuel with chili, curry, cumin, and tamarind chutney. Or perhaps it will be Tunisia’s chicken kebab, China’s pan-fried beef with spring peas and caramelized onions, or Egypt’s lamb and beef kofta with sumac onions and tahini. All to say, it’s a genuine adventure to dine here, and we are eager to sit with Chef Solomon and hear more about her food ideas. We look forward to having you join us!

About the Host:

Eritrea Solomon

Culinary Director

Cultural Storytelling is the language through which Chef Eritrea Solomon best knows how to express herself. Chef Eritrea uses food as a medium to tell stories of immigration, belonging, and nostalgia. She bridges cultural divides, and celebrates her heritage with a cuisine that is an exploration of her Eritrean roots and identity in America. Her dishes mix traditional flavors with global influences, creating a delightful fusion. A former alum of the wood-fired hearth at Maydān, Chef Eritrea has represented the team at the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen as well as pop-up events in DC and LA.
