Day 2: 5-Course Southern Mediterranean Tasting Series
This latest concept from The Sesame Collective (which has brought the flavors of Israel, Turkey, and Greece to the City of Roses with eateries like the Mediterranean Exploration Company, Yalla, and Shalom Y’all) opened in 2022 and has swiftly landed on such Lists as Oregonian’s “25 Best New Restaurants of 2022” and Eater’s “Best Italian in PDX in 2023.” Dolly Olive celebrates Southern Mediterranean ingredients and flavors, with an emphasis on an in-house bakery program, elegantly simple vegetable offerings, and freshly made pastas. Executive Chef Kasey Mills, co-owner and executive chef of The Sesame Collective, fell in love with Italian cooking while working at dearly departed Fratelli and traveled extensively in Europe collecting recipes. His menu at Dolly Olive includes dishes like prosciutto & peaches, braised short rib arancini, Spanish octopus, polenta with wild mushrooms, delicious pastas, and, of course, classic Italian meatballs. Named for Chef Mills’ grandmother, Dolly Olive signals comfort (as grandmothers so often do.) We could all use some of that, yes?

Originally from South Dakota, Chef Kasey Mills moved to Portland in 2001 and began cooking his way up the ranks at Portland institutions like Oba, Fratelli, and Toro Bravo. He is a co-owner of Sesame Collective, whose restaurants include Mediterranean Exploration Company, Shalom Y’all, Yalla, and Dolly Olive.

- The ticket price covers the full cost of the meal.
- Do guests need to be of a certain age to attend this event?
- Yes. All attendees must be 21+ to gain entry.
- Does this restaurant allow BYOB?
- No. This restaurant is a non-BYO establishment. Outside alcohol will not be permitted at this event.
- What is the event ticket cancellation/refund policy?
- Restaurants purchase the food for our events 14 days before the event date, at which point we are on the hook for the cost of your ticket. As such, we are not able to offer refunds (or credits towards future events) for any cancellation requests submitted within 14 days of the event date. We will, however, issue full refunds for all cancellation requests submitted at least 14 days before the event date. All cancellation requests must be submitted via email to [email protected].
- Can I bring guests who are not members to this event?
- Yep! Members are able to purchase up to 3 guest tickets to this event (based on availability). However, guest tickets are $20 more than member tickets ($85 + tax/tip), and guests will not be allowed entry to the event unless they're accompanied by a member.
