5-Course Memories of Mexico City Tasting Event
Serving diners since 2016, this outstanding Bernal Heights eatery captures the warmth of a Mexican home kitchen and has earned a place on many “Best Of” lists, including Time Out’s “Best Restaurants in SF” and Eater’s “38 Essential SF Restaurants” (both 2022) and the San Francisco Chronicle’s “Top Mexican Restaurants in the Bay Area” (2023). A native of Mexico City, Chef Isabel Caudillo learned to cook from her seven sisters, one of whom ran a street-food stall in front of their home. A graduate of La Cocina (the Mission incubator for women-run food businesses) she makes all her dishes from scratch, using organic masa and hand-rolling her enchiladas. Her menu includes a variety of homestyle dishes ranging from albondigas (savory meatballs in tomato sauce) to coditos con crema, a pasta and cream dish that has defined comfort food for generations of Mexicans. SF Gate says “El Buen Comer channels the soul of Mexico City” while Via Michelin deems the food “luscious” with a flan that they say is “one of the best renditions in the city.” We’re excited to visit, to meet Chef Caudillo, and to hear her story!

Hailing from Mexico City, Chef Isabel Caudillo graduated from La Cocina, a Mission incubator for women-run food businesses. After beginning El Buen Comer as a stand at the Noe Valley Farmers’ Market in 2008, she expanded operations to a brick-and-mortar location in 2016.

- Yes. All attendees must be 21+ to gain entry.

- No. This restaurant is a non-BYO establishment. Outside alcohol will not be permitted at this event.
- Can I bring guests/non-members to this event?
- Yep! For this event, guest tickets are $85 + tax & tip, and you can bring up to 3 guests. Please note, guests are not allowed to attend unaccompanied by a member.
- What is the event ticket cancellation/refund policy?
- Restaurants purchase the food for our events 14 days before the event date, at which point we are on the hook for the cost of your ticket. As such, we are not able to offer refunds (or credits towards future events) for any cancellation requests submitted within 14 days of the event date. We will, however, issue full refunds for all cancellation requests submitted at least 14 days before the event date. All cancellation requests must be submitted via email to support@tastingcollective.com.
