High Street
Day 1: 5-Course Modern Locavore Tasting Series
An indisputable veteran on the restaurant scene (having delighted Philadelphia diners since 2013 before their reopening) this is one eatery that does not rest on its laurels. This year, it was named to Eater’s “Best in Philly” and "Hottest Restaurants in Philly” Lists., Executive Chef Christina McKeough offers modern American cuisine with an emphasis on local grains, handmade pastas, and sourdough pizzas. The menu abounds with items that range from warm flatbread with housemade ricotta, black mission figs, and pine nuts to lamb meatballs with celeriac tzatziki and marcona almonds, squid with braised cannellini and broccoli rabe, steak tartare toast with marrow, fish sauce, and horseradish, Roman-style semolina gnocchi with sage, parmesan, and nutmeg…well, we could go on. “High Street is a place that is easy to love,” says Infatuation, while Philadelphia Inquirer Critic Craig LaBan calls it “veggie-focused, ambitious, and bold.” This is food that aims to please, so we are excited to while away an evening tasting Chef McKeough’s creations and hearing her food ideas.
