I'm Eddie Cano
DAY 2: 6-Course Playful Italian Event Series
First, the name: I’m Eddie Cano is quirky wordplay on “Americano,” the nickname given to co-owner Massimo Papetti whenever he returns to his native Rome. Now, the food! The culinary career of Executive Chef James Gee started with Wolfgang Puck in Chicago and took him to stints at top-rank establishments in Nantucket and East Hampton, including Cittanuova, the celebrity-packed Italian restaurant he opened with Massimo and Carolyn Papetti. Next, Chef Gee, who fell in love with Spanish food while visiting that nation, went to work in D.C. as Head Chef at José Andrés’ Jaleo and then at China Chilcano, both recipients of coveted Michelin Bib Gourmands. Now, reunited with the Papettis, Chef Gee is turning out Italian-American classics like Chicken Parmesan and authentic Italian fare like bucatini all ‘amatriciana that pay sophisticated homage to the checkered tablecloth, red-sauce joints of Little Italys across the country. “Plenty to praise,” says the Washington Post. We will be taking over the restaurant for this event, and Chef Gee will be on hand to answer your questions and discuss his passion for all things Italian.
