Itsumono

Day 1: 5-Course Inventive Izakaya Tasting Series

Opened at the beginning of 2023, this International District eatery that was named to Infatuation’s 2025 list of “Exciting Dinner Spots in Seattle” bills itself as a “mukokuseki gastropub.” And what, you ask, is "mukokuseki"? It translates to “without nationality,” which means that Itsumono draws from a wide range of culinary traditions. Chef Sean Arakaki, a Hawaii native and Eden Hill alum, oversees a menu of drinking food that isn’t afraid to play. He cross-pollinates karaage with Nashville hot chicken, dusts curly fries in nori, and offers pepperoni pizza egg rolls, nacho wontons, loco moco Scotch eggs, and many other delicious mutants. Seattle Times says, "Itsumono is making some of Seattle’s best food…one of the city’s most fascinating, compelling places to eat.” Naturally, we are excited to visit here and to chat with Chef Arakari. By the way, Itsumono means “The Regulars,” so maybe, in time, that’s just what we will all become!
