Jade Court
5-Course Homage to Hong Kong Tasting Event
In 2016, Chef Eddy Cheung opened the original Jade Court location in University Village, which Chicago Tribune restaurant critic Phil Vettel promptly called “…home to the best Chinese food I’ve had in a long, long time.” Chef Cheung died in 2019, but his daughter, Chef Carol Cheung, took over the family restaurant business. Rest assured too: Working from her father’s treasured recipes, she does his memory proud. In 2020, she opened the new Jade Court in Hyde Park’s Harper Court, and it quickly landed on Eater’s “38 Essential in Chicago” and Time Out’s “25 Best Chinese in Chicago” and “Best Seafood Restaurants in Chicago" Lists. All your favorite Chinese dishes are here, from lemon chicken, to beef with broccoli, to Peking duck, to dumplings, potstickers, and egg rolls - and let’s not forget egg foo young. Everything is done to such a fine turn as to make this familiar food seem suddenly a revelation. Good nutrition is also paramount to Chef Cheung, which means less salt, less sugar, and less of anything that is not good for you. We’re excited to visit and to dig in to the food that the whole world loves!
