Jaz Indian Cuisine
5-Course Tribute to Northern India Tasting Event
Opened just this past February, this Hell’s Kitchen eatery jumped right onto both Eater’s and Tasting Table’s 2022 Lists of “Best Indian Restaurants in NYC.” It takes its name from its owner Jaz Rupall, who was raised as a second-generation British-Indian in Hertfordshire, England. When her husband was transferred to New York for business, Jaz began hosting cooking classes and dinner parties in her apartment. They were so popular that she soon began envisioning a restaurant of her own, and now, under the auspices of Chef Kul Bahadur Dangi, a native of Nepal, Jaz Indian Cuisine is pleasing diners with superb examples of North Indian cuisine. These include such fare as lasuni gobi (cauliflower florets lightly batter-fried in garlic sauce), jalfrezi (fresh vegetable stir-fry), salmon bungabandhu (cooked with onions, tomatoes, garlic and ginger), shahi korma (chicken with cashew and almond sauce), fig lamb, goat curry, tandoori clay oven dishes, fabulous breads, and so much more. “A wonderful Indian restaurant that does the classic dishes right,” raves Knockturnal, so we are primed to visit. Hope to see you there!
