Jeanne D'Arc
5-Course Eclectic French Tasting Event
Originally opened in 1972, closed in 2020 on account of the pandemic, and reopened this past February, San Francisco’s beloved French bistro (located in the Cornell Hotel de France) is back and better than ever. Indeed, it has just jumped onto a bunch of important 2024 Best Of Lists, like Eater’s “Hottest in SF,” Forbes’ “Where to Eat in SF,” and Bay Times’ “Hidden Gems.” Bordeaux-born Executive Chef Bernard Moutal earned his stripes at NYC’s legendary Le Pavilion under the great Henri Soulé became he became exec chef at Jeanne D’Arc, transforming it into San Francisco’s pinnacle of French dining. Now, he has returned with all the classics, from escargots to crevettes et coquilles St. Jacques (prawns and scallops cooked with tomato, lemon, and white wine), coq au vin, magret de canard au poivre (roasted duck breast with peppercorn sauce), and crème brûlée, all served up in a fabulous baroque environment that spells Old World charm. Vive la France, we say, so we are excited to visit here and reexperience dishes that were seminal in terms of forming our food sensibilities. Hope to see you there!
