Day 1: 5-Course Wood-Fired Korean Tasting Series
Opened this past June, this newest venture from Peter Cho and Sun Young Park—the masterminds behind Han Oak (which the Oregonian named Portland’s Restaurant of the Year in 2017) and Toki—is a celebration of whole-animal butchery practices with wood-fired cooking methods that brings Korean delicacies to new heights. At least, Eater and Infatuation think so, as the former named it to its 2023 List of “Best Korean in Portland” while the latter gave it a place of honor on its List of “Best in Portland 2023.” Head Chef Ben Klein will preside over our event, combining the choicest cuts of beef, pork, lamb, seafood and locally sourced produce from organic farms in the area to produce a host of memorable dishes. It’s all served up in a beautiful space that once belonged to the dear, departed Renata—soaring rafters, hearth, bar—but now transformed with colorful glass spheres, massive house plants including six potted mimosa trees, and imported ceramic bowls. “Call it the grown-up Han Oak, a food rave with a driver’s license,” says Portland Monthly. “The house philosophy is “This is who we are, this is how we eat. Join us.” We will!
