Kalaya
DAY 3: 6-Course Authentic Thai Dinner Series
Kalaya, one of Philly's most beloved culinary destinations, is the collaborative creation of two women: Chef “Nok” Suntaranon, a graduate of the French Culinary Institute in New York, who spent years hosting private parties and catering special events, and My-Le Vuoung, a Vietnamese-born veteran restaurant manager who has worked with some of the biggest names in the restaurant world, including Jean-Georges, Alain Ducasse, and Mario Batali. Their friendship has brought forth this homey little establishment with food that tastes like it comes from your Thai grandmother’s kitchen. Here, you can discover dishes like toon tang (a golden pouch filled with potato, curry, and sweet chili sauce) or moo pad kapi (stir-fried pork in shrimp paste). Since opening its doors back in 2019, Kalaya has firmly established itself as one of the country's top destinations for Thai cuisine, having earned loads of national acclaim including being featured on Food & Wine's "Best New Restaurant in America" List, a Semi-Finalist nod for James Beard's "Best New Restaurant in America" Award ('20), and a #1 ranking on Esquire's “Best New Restaurants in America" List ('20). Yaowza!
