Kiddo
Day 2: 5-Course Modern Locavore Tasting Series
Opened just this past October, this compelling, vegetarian-forward eatery in Washington Square West has already made a big splash, landing on USA Today’s 2024 List of “Best New Restaurants in the US” Kiddo is the brainchild of Chef Wyatt Piazza, who grew up in an Italian family that loved good food and who got his first kitchen job when he was fifteen. He attended Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration and completed a joint-degree program with the Culinary Institute of America. At Kiddo, he blends his CIA training in French cuisine, his traditional Italian-American upbringing, and his time spent as a sous chef in the Sonoma Valley to create memorable dishes like mushroom fondue with poached egg and sourdough croutons, basil ravioli with smoked peach gastrique, brown butter, and popcorn dust, and pepper-crusted duck breast with cherries, walnuts, and cherry reduction. “Charming,” writes Philadelphia Inquirer critic Craig LaBan. “Well-executed food that is interesting without being overly precious.” We are really looking forward to our visit here and to the opportunity to chat with Chef Piazza and hear about his very distinctive food ideas!
