L'Avant-Garde

Day 2: 5-Course Polished Parisian Tasting Series

Opened at the end of 2022, this elegant Georgetown eatery that made such 2024 lists as Infatuation’s “Best French in D.C.” and Eater’s “Fantastic French in D.C.” also placed in the top 10 of Washingtonian’s “100 Best Restaurants in DC” and was listed in the “Top 6 Favorites” of Washington Post’s esteemed restaurant critic Tom Sietsema. Chef/Co-Owner Sébastien Giannini, a native of the French Riviera who has had two decades of experience leading the kitchen brigades at some of the most prestigious restaurants of France, Canada, and the US, has created a menu that celebrates classic French cuisine, from onion soup to bouillabaisse, beef tartare, lobster thermidor, filet mignon rossini, crème brûlée, and so much more. And the cherry on top of the mousse? It’s all served in a quintessential historic Georgetown row house that sports such features as ornate wood-burning fireplaces and hardwood floors. “An Ode to Paris in the Heart of Washington, D.C.,” is how L’Avant Garde refers to itself, and Washingtonian calls it a “thrilling French hot spot.” We can’t wait to visit!
