5-Course SE Asian Meets Southern Tasting Event
A mainstay of Crescent City’s restaurant scene since 2016, this unique eatery has been showered with accolades, securing a place on Thrillist’s “22 Most Essential NOLA Experiences” and Eater’s “Best in New Orleans’s Central Business District” List. Chef/Owner Michael Gulotta, a New Orleans native, has racked up plenty of accolades himself, having been a FIVE-Time James Beard “Best Chefs” Nominee, a StarChefs “Rising Star” Award-Winner, and the recipient of Food & Wine’s “Best New Chef” honor. What’s more, his first restaurant, MOPHO, was nominated for America’s Best New Restaurant by Bon Appétit and was named Restaurant of the Year by New Orleans Magazine. Maypop draws on Cajun, Vietnamese, Creole and Sicilian cuisine to turn out dishes like sticky pecan pork belly, satsuma glazed octopus, crispy ham rillettes with coconut rice grits, Polynesian red eye gravy and chow chow, smoked & lacquered duck with spicy greens and blueberry hoisin and…well, we could go on. Its stunning interior also earned it Eater’s 2017 award for “Design of the Year.” Naturally, we are super-excited about our visit. See you there!

A NOLA native, Chef Michael Gulotta graduated from the Chef John Folse Culinary Institute. After leading the Award-Winning Restaurant August kitchen for 6 years, he opened MOPHO, a Bon Appétit "America’s Best New Restaurant" Winner and NOLA Mag "Restaurant of the Year." In 2017, he opened Maypop, a Times-Picayune "Top 5 Best New Restaurant" Selection as well as a NOLA Mag "Best New Restaurant" Winner and a CN Traveler "NOLA Top 20 Restaurant." He is a multiple James Beard Nominee and a StarChefs "Rising Star" Award-Winner, among other honors.
