Meadowsweet
5-Course Modern Locavore Tasting Event
A true veteran of the volatile restaurant scene (it opened in 2014 after all) this Williamsburg eatery has appeared on such Lists as Infatuation’s “12 Perfect Restaurants” and Grub Street’s “Absolute Best in Williamsburg.” What’s more Chef/Owner Polo Dobkin has been nominated three times for a James Beard “Best Chef: NYC” Award. (And need we remind you that NYC has a lot of chefs?) He and his wife Stephanie Lempert set out to create a restaurant that was an extension of home—although their home happens to feature a chef who graduated from the French Culinary Institute with honors and was the executive chef at the Michelin-Starred Dressler. At Meadowsweet, he offers starters like crispy baby artichokes and Roman gnocchi with braised duck ragu and fresh ricotta and mains such as sea bass with white asparagus, morels, and preserved lemon and spiced duck breast with grilled escarole, mandarin orange, and castelveltrano olives. Infatuation puts it bluntly: “This place makes us feel good, and we want to go back. And maybe that’s all you need to know.” Uh…yup!
