Mish Mish
Day 2: 5-Course Inventive Mediterranean Tasting Series
Opened in February of 2022, this Mediterranean eatery on East Passyunk vaulted right onto multiple “Best Of” lists, including New York Times’ “Best Restaurants in Philly” List, Time Out’s “20 Best in Philly” List, and Eater’s “38 Essential Philly Restaurants” List. Chef Kyle McCormick, who has been featured by StarChefs, has an impressive resume of cooking at top restaurants like Laurel, ITV, Le Bec-Fin, Ladder 15, and Will BYOB. At Mish Mish, he is turning out beautiful fare, from golden beets and plumped raisins with fresh-shaved horseradish to fried squid and guindilla peppers with coconut caramel to eggplant stewed in spicy tomatoes with toasted cashews to pomegranate-lacquered chicken with couscous. “The menu might be most succinctly summarized as “Modern Mediterranean,” says Philadelphia Magazine. “The dishes are breezy, flavorful but light on their feet, cast through a 2020s post-Healthyish lens.” Look for the giant apricot hanging outside—what the family of part-Egyptian owner Alex Tewfik called “mish mish”—and we’ll meet you there!
