Musang
5-Course Modern Filipino Dinner Event
If you have not yet experienced Filipinix cuisine—or even if you have—you’re going to want to discover Beacon Hill’s Musang, which Seattle Eater named to its Essential 38 list. With its roots firmly planted in a neighborhood that has been populated over generations by a diverse range of immigrants, including the Filipinix who emigrated to Seattle as early as the 1900s, Musang, which means “wildcat” in Tagalog, introduces diners to favorite dishes from The Philippines. Seattle Met, which named Musang its restaurant of the year in 2020, calls it “a destination, full stop, for its food.” And what food it is. Here, you might find, on any given day, totsong talaog (fried eggplant and tofu with fermented black beans), sinigang na baboy (ribs with sour apple broth, okra, eggplant, and radishes), pancit canton (noodles with cabbage, carrots, wood ear mushrooms, and fried garlic), and so much more. It’s truly an education—and a delicious one.
