5-Course Creole Meets Korean Tasting Event
Opened just this past May on the corner of Decatur and Bienville in the French Quarter, this Asian fusion restaurant has jumped right onto Eater’s “Best in NOLA” and “Hottest in NOLA” lists. Larry Morrow, the restaurateur behind the popular Morrow’s, Treehouse, and Monday, conceived this eatery as a love letter to his maternal grandmother, the eponymous Sun Chong…who happens to be the restaurant’s head chef! She’s turning out fantastic specials like crawfish fried rice, beef bulgogi, Korean fried chicken, and YumYum fried ribs. (Advocate critic Ian McNulty also singled out the “Fish in a Boat”—a whole fried snapper with the flanks removed and cut into panko-coated chunks to dip in the sweet chili sauce stowed at the stern—as one of the “9 Dishes You Should Try Right Now Around New Orleans.”) Sun Chong’s setting is stunning too, with pink hibiscus flowers covering the walls and gold dragons adorning the columns and ceiling. “I wanted to create a cool, intimate spot with classic hip hop music being played and dope food,” Larry Morrow says, and it appears he has. Naturally, we are primed to visit!

Grandmother of restauranteur Larry Morrow, Chef Sun Chong leads the eponymous restaurant's kitchen, bringing to life Morrow's Korean-American childhood cuisine. Originally hailing from Seoul, South Korea, she and her family have been NOLA staples for generations. Sun Chong however makes her first partnership with her grandson (of Morrow's, Treehouse, and Monday fame.)

- Yep! For this event, guest tickets are $85 + tax & tip, and you can bring up to 3 guests. Please note, guests are not allowed to attend unaccompanied by a member.
- What is the event ticket cancellation/refund policy?
- Restaurants purchase the food for our events 14 days before the event date, at which point we are on the hook for the cost of your ticket. As such, we are not able to offer refunds (or credits towards future events) for any cancellation requests submitted within 14 days of the event date. We will, however, issue full refunds for all cancellation requests submitted at least 14 days before the event date. All cancellation requests must be submitted via email to [email protected].
