5-Course Ode to Mexico City Tasting Event

Opened last April, this Midtown eatery jumped right onto Eater Detroit’s Lists of “38 Essential Restaurants” and “Essential Mexican Restaurants”, as well as Resy’s List of “Top Restaurants in Detroit.” What’s more, it won a 2024 Eater Award for “Best New Restaurant,” is a 2025 Semi-Finalist for a James Beard “Best New Restaurant” Award, and — drumroll, please — was literally just named 2025's "Restaurant of the Year" by Detroit Free Press! Executive Chef Edgar Torres, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America who hails from Mexico City, is turning out fare that has Motor City diners talking. Consider such dishes as pulpo al pastor (octopus with charred pineapple), duck enchiladas with salsa verde and Oaxacan cheese, broccolini with green mole and pumpkin seeds, tuna tostadas, and more. Leave room too for luscious desserts like pistachio cream churros and mango tres leches cake, all consumed in a stylish setting evocative of Mexico City with sophisticated design elements of walnut wood, leather, copper, and terracotta. “Easily one of Detroit’s best new spots,” raves Detroit News. “The intense effort, attention to detail, and impressive dishes earn this high-end Mexico City-inspired restaurant a rare four-star rating.” We can’t wait to visit here!
