Wazwan
5-Course Refined Kashmiri Tasting Event
Setting up shop in Wicker Park in October 2021, Wazwan was soon named one of the “10 Hottest Restaurants in Chicago” by Chicago Magazine. Here, Executive Chef/Owner Zubair Mohajir, nominated for a Jean Banchet Award, celebrates South Asian cuisine. Among the specialties offered are momos, delicate bite-sized dumplings that feature prominently in Tibetan and Nepalese food traditions. The mushroom korma with cashew butter and black truffle also has a following, as does the inaloban, a fish stew with clams and bok choi in a turmeric coconut broth. Chef Mohajir has worked as a sous chef at The Pumproom by Jean-Georges Vongerichten, at Thomas Keller’s Michelin-starred Restaurant Bouchon in California, and did an apprenticeship at Gaggan in Bangkok, which was ranked #1 among Asia’s restaurants and seventh overall in rankings of the world’s best restaurants. In other words, he has a sterling pedigree, and we are very much looking forward to tasting his food and hearing all about the food he loves.
