Winnie's

5-Course Texas Meets The Bayou Tasting Event

As of September 2021, Mid-Main has a new feelgood/eatgood restaurant. Winnie’s, which Texas Monthly named to its 2022 list of Best New Texas Restaurants, is a patio bar with a New Orleans vibe serving raw oysters, loaded po’ boys, bbq shrimp toast, gumbo, muffuletta, and lots more to tease the palate. Co-Executive Chef/Owner Chris Roy grew up in Baytown, the son of a Louisiana ex-pat and a Texas country boy. He graduated from Le Cordon Bleu Austin, got his first job at Brennan’s in Houston, where he learned the ins and outs of Creole cuisine, and was most recently at dear departed Bernadine’s. He has found a great new home in Winnie’s, which is housed in a vintage building that was originally a drug store, now with exposed wood ceilings, a lovingly rebuilt period storefront, and two huge new bay windows to let in more natural light and connect the space to the beautiful shaded patio. It sounds to us like just the getaway we need, and we hope to see you there!

A Texas and Le Cordon Bleu Austin graduate, Chef Roy started his culinary career at Brennan’s and has been a Houston fixture ever since. He was a Sous Chef at The Pass and Provisions before opening former Eater Houston Restaurant of the Year, Bernadine’s, and becoming Executive Chef at Killen’s Steakhouse. Post-pandemic, he and Bernadine's partner Graham Laborde joined with Benjy Mason for a new concept: Winnie’s.

    with spicy dr. pepper glaze, thai chile, peanuts, and okra kimchi

  5. Bananas Foster

    with dark rum sauce and vanilla ice cream

Do I have to bring printed tickets to the event?
No tickets are needed.
What does the ticket price cover?
The ticket price covers the full cost of the meal.
Do guests need to be of a certain age to attend this event?
Yes. All attendees must be 21+ to gain entry.
What must I bring to the event?
Please make sure to bring a government-issued photo ID.
Does this restaurant allow BYOB?
No. This restaurant is a non-BYO establishment. Outside alcohol will not be permitted at this event.
What is the event ticket cancellation/refund policy?
Restaurants purchase the food for our events 14 days before the event date, at which point we are on the hook for the cost of your ticket. As such, we are not able to offer refunds (or credits towards future events) for any cancellation requests submitted within 14 days of the event date. We will, however, issue full refunds for all cancellation requests submitted at least 14 days before the event date. All cancellation requests must be submitted via email to [email protected].
What COVID safety precautions will be taken at this event?
At this event, we will be accommodating all requests for separate tables rather than communal seating. Additionally, all food will be served individually-plated rather than family-style. As per local guidelines, as well as the restaurant’s own policy, attendees will not be required to present proof of vaccination for entry.
Can I bring guests/non-members to this event?
Yep! For this event, guest tickets are $85 + tax & tip, and you can bring up to 3 guests. Please note, guests are not allowed to attend unaccompanied by a member.
What dietary restrictions/food allergies can be accommodated at this event?
At this event the chef will provide substitutions for critical food allergies/dietary restrictions but will not make menu adjustments based on food preferences (e.g distaste for specific ingredients/flavor profiles). If you have restrictions/allergies, please make sure to Update Your Dietary Restrictions within your Account Info before or after you purchase tickets, or email us at [email protected] after you purchase tickets to let us know.
