Zilla Sake
Day 3: 5-Course Opulent Omakase Tasting Series
A true veteran of the volatile restaurant scene that opened in 2007, this chef-driven restaurant and sake bar on Alberta Street continues to rack up accolades, such as Oregonian’s “Best Sushi in PDX” List ('23) and Eater PDX’s “Knockout Sushi Restaurants” ('24). Korean-born Chef/Owner Kate Koo, who was adopted by American parents and raised in Portland, began her sushi training in 2000. Her education included both traditional apprenticeships under Japanese chefs and continuous independent study. Zilla Sake is a traditionally-focused sushi bar that specializes in omakase while also offering a full à la carte menu of salads, sashimi, nigiri, maki, and small cooked dishes. Che Koo showcases carefully sourced ingredients, highlighting their beauty and flavors. “Known for their meticulous sourcing and high-quality sushi options, the effortlessly cool and casual Zilla has become a destination for rare sake and fresh sushi,” raves Eater. We are excited to visit Villa Sake and look forward to hearing from Chef Koo, who will share her exhaustive knowledge of sushi, sake, and more!
