Seasonal American Dinner Series

New York - August 1st, 2nd & 3rd at The Finch

This was our first event series at The Finch, and member expectations were incredibly high given the restaurant's Michelin Star accolade and Chef/Owner Gabe McMackin's beyond impressive resume (Blue Hill at Stone Barns, Roberta's, and Gramercy Tavern). The event series got off to a challenging start, as the NY State health inspector decided to show up for his random annual review exactly when DAY 1 of our series was kicking off... It was bound to happen sooner or later! Chef McMackin and his team did their best to make up for the delay this caused, and they handled the situation gracefully, but it certainly wasn't ideal - they received an A grade though from the inspector! Overall, member feedback was up and down. There were definitely a few show stoppers at each event, but there were also quite a few courses that drew a lackluster response from attendees. Below are the top 3 courses of each event as rated by attendees on their feedback cards:

DAY 1

1st Place: Smoked Bluefish - with romano beans and spring onion panzanella

2nd Place: Vanilla Semifreddo - with poached peaches

3rd Place: Chicken & Garlic Scape Meatballs

DAY 2

1st Place: Smoked Bluefish - with romano beans and spring onion panzanella

2nd Place: Vanilla Semifreddo - with poached peaches

3rd Place: Lamb Shoulder - with zucchini and pistachio

DAY 3

1st Place: Vanilla Semifreddo - with poached peaches

2nd Place: Chicken & Garlic Scape Meatballs
