Revisiting Pan-Latin Roots Tasting Series

Chicago - June 23rd at Chi-Latin

Ecuadorian-born Chef/Owner Freddy Orellana previously cooked at beloved Mk before becoming a partner in Dell 'Rooster, so of course, we took immediate notice of Chi-Latin when the opportunity appeared in our inbox. That said, even with this gem's incredible buzz from the likes of Chicago Magazine (who named Chi-Latin to their "10 Hottest in Chicago" List), we couldn't believe our eyes when Chef Orellana's beautifully plated dishes started coming out. Then we started tasting, and we knew we were in heaven! To get your own mouth watering over the team's incredible menu, as well as read all about the top three courses (as determined by post-event feedback left by guests on their feedback cards), scroll down to our ranking and photo gallery below:

1st Place: Pescado Caribeño with white fish, coconut rice, sweet potato croquettes, sweet plantains, citrus pineapple glaze, and pineapple pico

2nd Place: Flautas de Papa, a crispy potato taquito dish with creamy tomatillo sauce, guacasalsa, shredded cheese, pickled cabbage, and sour cream

3rd Place: Carne Brava with sautéed vegetables, yuca frites, and duo chimichurri
