Inventive Chinese/American Dinner Series

Fung Tu in New York

It had been a few months since our last event at Fung Tu, and to be frank, we were craving some time with Chef Jonathan Wu! At our last visit, we thoroughly enjoyed the food but it was Chef Wu's storytelling that really blew us away. His storytelling was definitely still amazing during this series, and if anyone from The Food Network is reading this you need to get this man a show ASAP! But, this time around we found ourselves thinking more about the food at the end of the night than Chef Wu's stories. Experimentation is an essential characteristic of Chef Wu's cooking, as he continually blends flavors and ingredients in unconventional and unexpected ways, and when you take as many culinary risks as he does the food is not always going to work out well. But, during this event series, his risk-taking paid off much more often than not. Below are the top 3 courses of each event as rated by attendees on their feedback cards:

1st Place: Pistachio Brown Butter Rice Krispies - with lychee and rose water-marinated strawberries

2nd Place: Duck Confit Scallion Pancake Wraps- with pickled cucumber and hoisin-plum sauce

3rd Place: Yellow Noodles - with fermented black bean-clam sauce, lap cheong, and garlic chives
