Seafood-Centric Thai Dinner Event

New York - May 22nd at Fish Cheeks

This event just reinforced what we were pretty sure we already knew... Fish Cheeks is incredible! We were pretty blown away at our first event together a few months back but that was a brunch event and, naturally, we had to make sure that their genius translated to dinner. Well, it 100% did. Wow. The menu this time around featured some new dishes that the Suansilphong brothers wanted to get our feedback on (Crispy Branzino, Lemongrass Fried Chicken), but the signature dishes that blew us away at our first event finished up as the highest rated among attendees yet again. Food aside, we particularly enjoyed hearing Chef Chat tell us about the challenges he faces in opening a high-quality Thai restaurant in NYC. It ain't easy to uhigh-quality ingredients in NYC because there's an expectation among NYC diners that Thai food should be cheap. Luckily, Chef Chat has figured out how to accomplish this - in a big way! Below are the top 3 courses of each event as rated by attendees on their feedback cards:

1st Place: Crab Fried Rice - crab, rice, egg, scallion, and onion served with nam jim seafood

2nd Place: Coconut Crab Curry - jumbo lump crab meat with mortar and pestle crushed curry paste and betal leaves

3rd Place: Nam Tok Pork - grilled pork with roasted rice, shallot, scallion, cilantro, and chili
