Québécois In The Midwest Tasting Event
Dear Margaret in Chicago
While this was our first event with Dear Margaret, it was actually our third time collaborating with Executive Chef Ryan Brosseau; we previously teamed up with him with pre-pandemic when he was running the kitchen at Table, Donkey & Stick, and Le Sud. So, after digging into the glowing member feedback archives from those events, it's safe to say we were very confident this event would not disappoint! Oh, and it also didn't hurt that, despite opening just over a year ago, Dear Margaret has quickly racked up a plethora of jaw-dropping accolades: winner of Jean Banchet's "Best New Restaurant of 2022" Award, designated a Michelin "Bib Gourmand" ('22), and, as of TODAY (9/19), named to NY Times annual "50 Best Restaurants in America" List ('22). Congrats to Chef Brosseau, Owner Lacey Irby, and the whole team at Dear Margeret for this incredible/well-deserved recognition! Yes, they of course put on an unforgettable show for us with this two-seating event. Below are the top three courses, as rated by attendees on their feedback cards:
1st Place: Roasted Sturgeon with celery root & leek purée, preserved artichokes, brown butter & mustard vinaigrette, and fennel
2nd Place: Buttered Gigante Beans with marinated late-summer vegetables, herbed buttermilk vinaigrette, and pickled mustard seed
3rd Place: Buttermilk Cheesecake with blueberry preserves, lavender honey, and almond
