Revisiting Catalán Roots Tasting Event

Washington DC - April 8th at Casa Teresa

The promise of open-fire Spanish cooking with seasonal, locally sourced ingredients would have always drawn our eye to this Downtown DC darling. Add on Best Of nods from the likes of Eater and Washingtonian, and our expectations were admittedly sky-high. We could never have imagined, though, that Executive Chef and Co-Founder Rubén García (AKA, the creative director for the José Andrés Group, not to mention the man behind 2-Michelin-Starred Minibar) would suddenly clear his schedule to host, just for us! Between his captivating stories, his impeccable staff, and the mouth-watering food, it was the most magical way we could have imagined to experience Casa Teresa - and that's with a once-in-a-lifetime eclipse earlier that day! Don't take our word for it, though. Not only will this event be featured on the Travel Channel in the future, but we've also captured every detail of this incredible night for you below. Scroll down now to drool over the photos, as well as read up on the top three courses (as determined by post-event feedback left by guests on their feedback cards):

1st Place: Parrillada De Carnes & Verduras with a grilled selection of catalan pork sausages, chorizo, amish chicken, and seasonal vegetables

2nd Place: Gilda Clásica Rita Hayworth 1946 with white anchovy, piquillo pepper, olive, salt-cured anchovy, and piparra

3rd Place: Pà Amb Tomàquet, a cristal bread with tomato, extra virgin olive oil, and Escalivada Catalana, open fire roasted eggplants with onion & red pepper sherry vinegar dressing
